Cape Coral Real Estate: Valued for Education

Cape Coral Real Estate: Valued for Education

Many owners of Cape Coral real estate are in love with their property for the beautiful views and comfortable, southern Florida climate.  Also, with more miles of canals than any other city in the world, Cape Coral is a water-lover’s dream.  The city boasts more than 400 miles of navigable canals that twist and turn through the area.

If you’re looking for homes for sale in Cape Coral, no one will blame you for being focused on the water.  However, many young families are being attracted to Cape Coral condos and townhomes not for the views, but for the exceptional education.

When Cape Coral was founded in 1957, it was a master-planned community, designed to offer glamorous, high-class living.  The idyllic, almost utopian spirit that Cape Coral was born with has of course faded.  With a booming population, Cape Coral is no longer the most sought-out destination in the state of Florida.  However, Cape Coral citizens love this fact about their city.  They feel honored to call their sliver of Cape Coral real estate home!

But, if there’s one way in which that idyllic image of Cape Coral lives on, it’s in the city’s educational system.  Public schools in Cape Coral are a part of the Lee County School District.  The district includes 5 high schools, 6 middle schools, and eight elementary schools, all of which are recognized for their exceptionally high standards.

Real estate buyers in Cape Coral are usually quite attentive to the school districts.  For many Cape Coral real estate purchasers, it’s very important to get a home, condo, or townhome inside the Lee County School District.

Other families are more interested in getting their children into Cape Coral’s prestigious charter school system, which is tuition-free.  The Cape Coral charter school system encompasses one high school, one middle school, and two elementary schools.  The addition of this charter school system has driven the value of Cape Coral real estate, townhomes, and condos since its introduction.

As much as Cape Coral homes for sale might appeal to families, there are many college students who are also interested buyers.  Edison State College, which is located in nearby Fort Myers, has drawn many students to Cape Coral.  In 2009, there were over 16,000 students enrolled at Edison State College.  Also nearby in Fort Myers is Florida Gulf Coast University, which has over 12,000 students.

If you’re looking for homes for sale in Cape Coral, you may have been motivated by the water.  However, you’re likely to stay motivated on your search because of the great education!
